NEMA/ANSI compliant Shorting and Open Caps

Shorting and open caps are devices that close, or open, the primary electrical circuit that runs across an ANSI C136.10 compliant twist lock receptacle in an outdoor luminaire. The shorting cap provides a closed circuit when a photo control is not installed, keeping lights continually on for safety. An open cap disconnects service when lighting is no longer needed. Our ANSI compliant LUMAWISE ALR series and Endurance N family of products provide a safe, convenient, and economical method to close or open the primary circuit path across a NEMA compliant receptacle. These devices are UL listed, durable and weatherproof, fully suited for an outdoor environment 365 days of the year.

Our shorting and open caps portfolio consists of the LUMAWISE ALR series and the LUMAWISE Endurance N series. The ALR series, which was our first introduction of caps to the market, features an IP54 weatherproof rating and includes an option with a 545 Joule MOV (metal oxide varistor) for protection against transient line surges. The Endurance N and N+ series is a more recent introduction that offers benefits from a gasket and cover design providing a higher level IP66 seal rating and IK08 impact rating. At just 30mm tall, when mated, the Endurance N+ cap is our lowest profile cap.
