V2X

Connecting Vehicles to Each Other and the Environment

In the context of a vehicle's architecture, V2X is usually seen as an additional sensor unit - with real-time non-line-of-sight capabilities enabling a wide range of modern ADAS and autonomous driving functions that “see around the corner.”

There are several intelligent approaches for implementing a V2X system into the vehicle architecture. In this white paper we discuss:

  • A fully independent V2X control unit, integrating the complete V2X stack and applications
  • A distributed V2X system, with the V2X radio in close proximity to the antennas with the V2X application being operated on a remote TCU.

This paper addresses optimum locations for V2X equipment and discusses TE’s solutions for  V2X ready antenna and compensators, V2X control units with customized vehicle network interfaces and, significantly, how TE’s portfolio supports both DSRC and C-V2X standards and is developing proprietary single source system solutions to meet individual customer requirements.
